Asian Development Bank extends $100mn loan to Kerala for employability

ADB and the government of India signed a Rs 100 million loan to help Kerala

New Delhi: Asian Development Bank will provide $100 million loan to improve job prospects of higher secondary and under graduate students in Kerala by funding state government’s skill development programme.

“ADB and the government of India signed a Rs 100 million loan to help Kerala in its drive to increase the employability of higher secondary and undergraduate students,” ADB said.

The loan, to support Kerala’s Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP), will provide youth with opportunities to improve their English language, IT skills, and learn market relevant in-demand vocational skills.

“Training in English and basic IT, and vocational training to high school and undergraduate students, after class” ADB's Country Director of India Resident Mission M Teresa Kho said.
