The Telugu Film Industry’s mega 10am-10pm entertainment marathon, for helping Hudhud victims, is the talk of the town. While the organisers were confident of generating Rs 10 crore from this event, the overall response has been average.
“Ticket sales are very low and each producer is being forced to buy ten tickets,” says a source.
There were plans to raise funds through telecast rights, but that does not seem to be panning out either.
The film industry is abuzz with talks about how personal gains could be playing an important part in the event’s planning.
While the initial announcement was that telecast rights would be given to the television channel with the highest bid, telecast rights were surprisingly awarded to a Rs 3.5 crore bid instead of a Rs 6 crore bid.
“With eyes on property in Vizag, political favours seem to be ruling the event,” claimed a source.
Also, with the CM planning to declare Vizag as the ‘Entertainment City’ several bigwigs from the Telugu Film Industry are eager for their share of the pie.
And pleasing the ruling party seems to be the best way to land a few to sweet deals.
