School bus hits tree; passengers escape unhurt
Hyderabad: A bus belonging to Oakridge International School rammed a tree, at the Vivekananda Colony, in Kukatpally on Thursday morning. Three students who were in the bus and the driver escaped unhurt.
The minor mishap occurred when the driver fell ill while driving and in an attempt to stop the bus it to hit the tree.
It was around 7.30 am when the bus driver, B Laxma Reddy, 40, picked up kids from Kukatpally, the starting point to the school in Bachupally. By the time, the bus reached the next pickup point, in Vivekananda Colony, Laxma Reddy started feeling ill.
“While driving, he suddenly felt drowsy. Anticipating trouble, he tried to stop the vehicle. In the process, he lost control of the vehicle and rammed the tree, “said Shekar, SI Kukatpally.
As it was the first pickup point, not many kids were present in the bus. All the passengers were safe. Laxma Reddy alerted the school management and an alternate transportation was arranged for the kids to go to school.
The cops and locals rushed to the spot. The cops detained Laxma Reddy who informed them about his illness leading to the mishap.
“He was booked for dangerous driving under section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act. A challan was issued,” said the SI. However no formal complaint was lodged in this connection
