Ponnala Lakshmaiah welcomes Telangana House probe on him
Hyderabad: TPCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah, who is under the scanner of the House Committee that is being appointed to probe the assignment lands row connected with his Tirumala Hatcheries near Warangal, has welcomed the constitution of the Committee.
He said, “Let the truth come out and soon people will get to know whether I am guilty or not.”
However, Ponnala did not want to elaborate. “I had many things to say, but it is not appropriate at this stage to air my arguments when a House Committee is being appointed.
Let it be appointed, I will fully cooperate with the Committee,” Ponnala Laxmaiah said here on Thursday.
Meanwhile, former MP Dr Mallu Ravi, party MLC M. Ranga Reddy, former ministers Chandrasekhara and Dr Vijayarama Rao accused Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao of trying to hoodwink the Opposition by ordering probes against leaders critical of him and the functioning of his government especially PCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah for his efforts to highlight the plight of farmers and the hundreds of farm suicides in Telangana.
Addressing a news conference in Gandhi Bhavan they said that Ponnala bought the lands from Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) and started the business to provide employment to poor villagers.
“How could it be a crime if he had bought the land from a government agency. It is a clear case of unjustifiable victimisation,” they said.
Mallu Ravi flayed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for talking big about Dalits and their empowerment, conveniently ignoring his earlier commitment to make a Dalit the first Chief Minister of Telangana.
“It is a clear case of hounding Ponnala and taking no action against others who occupied lands belonging to the Dalits,” he said.
