Krishna Tribunal hearing on January 7
Hyderabad: The Justice Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on the distribution of Krishna Waters, adjourned its hearing on Thursday to January 7, 2015 on the batch of petitions filed by the Krishna riparian states to decide whether there should be a fresh hearing and distribution of waters among the four states as sought by Telangana.
Tribunal chairman Justice Brijesh Kumar wanted the views of the Centre. When the counsel sought some more time to submit the views, the tribunal adjourned its hearing to January 7.
The Telangana government has sought the tribunal’s permission to present fresh arguments as it is a newly created state.
It said fresh arguments are necessary to help the state get its share of the Krishna waters instead of dividing the 1004 TMC ft allotted to undivided AP. However, both Karnataka and Maharashtra have objected to reopening of the issue and have requested the tribunal to allot whatever is due to Telangana in the 1004 TMC ft.
