Farmers firm on protest at Fadnavis' Nagpur residence tomorrow
Nagpur: After failing to get assurance from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over adequate compensation for their damaged crop, the Shetkari Sanghatana, a farmers group, on Friday decided to go ahead with their agitation and hold a sit-in at his residence in Dharampeth here tomorrow.
"We were invited by the Chief Minister to hold discussions after we announced our agitation and accordingly we met him this morning at his official residence 'Ramgiri' but he has not given any concrete assurance," the group head Sharad Joshi told reporters here.
The farmers are worried over crop damages to grapes, oranges, cotton, soya and other major crop due to lack of adequate rainfall this season.
They have demanded that farmers should be compensated immediately.
Besides Joshi, former legislators Wamanrao Chatap, Saroj Kashikar, Gunwant Patil, Dinesh Sharma and Ram Newale were present during the meeting with Fadnavis.
