Capital gives fillip to temples
There are 54 temples in the new capital Tullur mandal
Guntur: The ancient temples in Guntur district are going to benefit with the decision of Tullur being made the new capital.
The ancient self-incarnated Venkateswara Swamy temple is situated at Vykunthapuram on the banks of Krishna river adjacent to Tullur. There are 54 temples in the new capital Tullur mandal, 53 temples in Tadikonda, 34 temples in Mangalagiri and 47 temples in Tadepalli mandals of the new capital region.
The tourist department is already planning Buddhist circuit under which various Buddhist places like 125-feet height Buddhist theme park of Amaravati and Undavalli caves of Tadepalli mandals would attract touri-sts internationally with the help of the new capital. Besides this, ancient Trikoteswara Swamy temple at Kotappakonda is also going to switch into international religious tourism centre due to the starting of ropeway on the Kotappakonda to attract international tourists.
AP Assembly Speaker K. Sivaprasada Rao said that the technical report for the ropeway at a cost of Rs 17.35 crore is ready for Kotappakonda development.
Pedakurapadu MLA K. Sridhar said that there are lot of lands of Amaraeswara temple in Chennai but they are in disputes hence they are trying to get back those lands to help develop Amaravati temple.
