Hyderabad: Adding to the list of dowry deaths, a 28-year-old woman committed suicide at her residence at Boduppal in Medipally.
The victim G. Pallavi, was married to G.M.N.V. Prasad. Though the couple lived happily after their marriage later they had disputes.
Pallavi’s family alleged that at the time of marriage, Rs 5 lakh and 200 grams of gold were given as dowry. However, he started demanding additional dowry and harassed Pallavi both mentally and physically.
Medipally police said that unable to take the harassment Pallavi consumed poison on Wednesday and was shifted to hospital, where she died.
Based on a complaint, a dowry death case was registered.
