Tech students steal gold chain, caught

The police suspects the bike they were riding is also stolen

Nellore: Two engineering students beat up some locals and thrashed a sub-inspector of police who attempted to overpower the duo after they snatched a gold chain from a teacher at Medarametlapalem village in Lingasamudram mandal of Prakasam district on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Ch. Omkar and Rajanikanth, are students of an engineering college in Ongole. They snatched a gold chain from a teacher, identified as Suneetha, at around 9 am when she was walking towards the village.

They fled the spot on their motorcycle after committing the crime, following which, Ms Suneetha raised an alarm.

The two students beat up Kondapuram SI Kondaiah, and managed to flee when he tried to stop them near the police station.

They also beat up a resident of Erraballi village when he and some locals blocked the road with autorickshaws.

However, the locals in Erraballi managed to overpower the duo and handed them over to the police after giving them dressing down. The police suspects the bike they were riding is also stolen.
