Domestic terminal at RGI Airport will be named after N T Rama Rao: Arun Jaitley

New Delhi: Union finance minister Arun Jaitley said in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that the decision to rename the domestic terminal of the Hyderabad airport after NTR was final.

Restoration of N T Rama Rao’s name for the domestic terminal of the Hyderabad airport stalled the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha for the second day on Wednesday as Congress leaders accused the BJP government of “deliberately insulting” former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The government, on its part, refuted the allegations saying that the domestic airport was originally named after NTR and that it continued to be so. “Both N.T. Rama Rao and Rajiv Gandhi are respected leaders.

The international airport in continues to be named after Rajiv Gandhi. The domestic airport was originally named after NTR and that continues to be so,” Mr Jaitley said.
