After power, water, it’s TTD fund between Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh
Telengana government seeking its share of funds from TTD
Hyderabad: Adding to the ongoing tussle with the Andhra Pradesh government over sharing of water and power, the Telengana government is heading for a fresh row by seeking its share of funds from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
The TS government informed the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday that the TTD owes Rs 241 crore to Telangana and it will take all steps to recover the amount from the AP government.
Legislative affairs minister T. Harish Rao said the government in the undivided state had collected Common Good Fund (CGF) from the TTD, which has to be distributed between both the states in proportion to population and TS has Rs 241 crore share.
Mr Rao informed that the united AP government had collected five per cent of the total revenues of TTD every year through the endowment department towards CGF and Endowment Administrative Fund (EAF) from 2003-04.
The total amount thus collected reached Rs 576 crore by 2012-13, of which TS is eligible for a share of Rs 241 crore. As per the Endowments Act enacted by then AP government, the funds thus collected were meant for the maintenance of temples with low income.
“Section 7 of AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, clearly stipulates that such funds collected in the undivided state have to be shared between both AP and TS in the ratio of 58:42. The government will consult the AP government on getting the share from the TTD till the bifurcation date of June 2, 2014,” Mr Rao said.
He added that the TS government is committed to restore the temples in TS, which were neglected in the undivided state. “We have sanctioned Rs 100 crore for Yadagirigutta temple in the recent Budget to develop it on par with Tirupati temple,” he said.
