The Bollywood debut of Priyanka Chopra’s cousin Mannara Chopra (aka Barbie Handa) has already turned controversial with her co-star in Zid, Shraddha Das, going on record saying she hates Mannara.
Shraddha had recently lashed out saying, “I cannot stand Mannara” and had accused the former of actually “hitting” her during a fight sequence in the movie.
At a recent press meet where Mannara, Priyanka and director Anubhav Sinha were present, the debutante had diplomatically said, “All I can say is that I love all my co-stars and she (Shraddha) is a fabulous actor. I think my director and crew can answer better.”
Anubhav, too, had immediately said that sometimes these things happened while shooting action sequences.
Priyanka, however, had valiantly come to her sister’s rescue and said, “Arrey Anubhav Sir, you know it has happened with me so many times.”
Later, Priyanka added, “I know the scene that she (Shraddha) is talking about, I’ve seen the movie and you must see it too.”
Priyanka adds, “I think sometimes when you are new, you don’t understand that films are much more than just acting or showing off.” When pointed out that Shraddha had alleged that it had happened not once but in multiple scenes, Priyanka said, “Somebody must be running behind her deliberately and hitting her with a stick.”
While Mannara should be proud of her illustrious sister’s support, Shraddha, when contacted about PC’s reactions, says, “How I wish I too had a sister like Priyanka Chopra. I have nothing to say about her comment. She is too big for me. I have nothing against her...”
About her absence at the press meet, she adds, “I was busy shooting for my Telugu horror film Ouija in Bengaluru” Shraddha, in fact, had asked Anubhav Sinha not to promote the film with Mannara and her on the same stage. “I wasn’t lying. Even Anubhav Sinha agreed in one of his interviews that I was hurt. I have spoken the truth and I do not care,” she said.
