Mumbai: Microsoft Devices on Wednesday announced the launch of its first Lumia smartphone without Nokia branding in India. This is the first Lumia model that Microsoft launched under its own brand name after it completed its acquisition of Finnish handset maker Nokia in April 2014.
While Microsoft had launched few series of Lumia in the past couple of months, all those models still carried the Nokia’s brand name. “We will continue with the Nokia brand for all the entry level models. However, for the affordable handset models and premium models, we will carry the Microsoft brand name,” said Raghuvesh Sarup, director, marketing, Nokia India.
Mr Sarup further added that the Nokia handset users would be provided with the same quality of service that a Microsoft device holder will get. “We will provide both the devices with the same quality of services,”he added.
The new Microsoft Lumia 535, which is priced at Rs 9,199, has a wide angle 5 megapixel front facing camera. “Innovation should be available to every one and our endeavour is to make it accessible to the masses through our range of affordable Lum-ia devices,” said Mr. Sarup
