World Heritage Week concludes at Kurnool
It was celebrated from November 19 to 25
Kurnool: The World Heritage Week, which was celebrated from November 19 to 25 was concluded on Tuesday. A meeting was organised at Gol Gumbaz in Kurnool by Indian National Trust For Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) inter-district chapter.
Addressing the gathering Krishna Chaitanya from Archaeological Survey of India, Kurnool district, who was the chief guest of the event, reiterated that they are deeply committed to the development and preservation of ancient structures under the ASI.
Mr Silar Mohammad, principal of Osmania College, advised the students to visit old structures in and around Kurnool and try to know their prominence and to get the essence of the culture.
INTACH inter district chapter convener B. Venkateswarlu told that as part of World Heritage Week they visited ancient rock paintings at Kethavaram, conducted clean drive at “Manrobavi” at Pattiko-nda and “Vajrakoneru” at Kalwa village.
They also visited Valmiki caves at Boyavantlapalli and also did repair work at the ancient pond (Koneru) at Siddheswaram village with the help of locals.
At the end of the meeting mementos were presented to Mr Ramesh, Mr Mehboob Basha, Mr Krishna Chaitanya, Ms Indira Shanti, Ms C.V. Rajeswari and Mr Raghunath Setty for their help in organising the event and making it a huge success.
Ms C.V. Rajeswari, principal of government degree college, Pattikonda, and other dignitaries were present.
