Kochi: Kerala high court on Tuesday extended the status quo order allowing the existing bar hotels to function till December 12. The court also posted the appeals filed by the bar owners and the state government against the single judge's order to December 3 for detailed hearing.
The court also admitted an appeal filed by the state in the case. A division bench comprising Justice K.T. Sankaran and Justice P.D. Rajan issued the order while considering the appeals filed by the bar owners seeking to quash the single judge’s order which partially upheld the state government’s new abkari policy and allowed four and five-star and heritage categories to function in the state.
The bar owners sought a directive to post the case after Christmas vacation but the court declined it and posted the case for detailed hearing.
The bar owners also submitted that records were necessary for considering the arguments and the Advocate-General submitted that records would be produced before the court on Dec. 3.
