Fight for rooms in House
Hyderabad: The TRS government and the Telangana Telugu Desam have now locked horns over allotment of rooms in the Legislative Assembly.
The TD has rejected the two rooms allotted to it outside the Assembly (Old CLP Office) and has demanded two big rooms on the Assembly premises or it will seek rooms from the Andhra Pradesh government.
Rejecting the TD’s demand, irrigation and legislative affairs minister T. Harish Rao said that no rooms were available inside the Assembly and the TD should remain content with what have been allotted to them.
Citing severe space crunch, Mr Harish Rao refuted TD floor leader E. Dayakar Rao’s charge that the party was deliberately being denied rooms. Mr Dayakar Rao had led a delegation to Mr Harish Rao during a break in the Assembly Session and sought allotment of two big rooms to the TDLP on the Assembly premises.
He requested the minister to write to the Andhra Pradesh Speaker seeking rooms, but Mr Harish Rao denied and said home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, who was unwell and had a problem with his leg, had been allotted a room on the ground floor along with finance minister Etela Rajender.
“We have only three rooms on the ground floor while even deputy Chief Ministers Rajaiah and Mohd Mahamood Ali have to be content with rooms on the first floor. Telangana has more parties than Andhra Pradesh,” he added.
