Techie installs keyloggers to loot debit card users
Hyderabad: A software engineer snooped on internet users in a café, by installing hacking software, and collecting their debit card details to loot their money.
The accused G Srikant, 36, was arrested by Cyberabad police after he booked a train ticket, using a victim’s debit card. Police said that he had installed ‘Keyloggers’ in a cafe at LB Nagar Ring Road, without the owner’s knowledge.
The accused was working in an IT solution company, however, he quit the job recently.
According to Cyberabad Cyber Crime police station ACP, S. Jayaram, “the accused, a resident of BN Reddy Nagar, had earlier cheated few other victims in similar manner and was arrested by the CCS police of Hyderabad.
However, he came out of jail and continued to do it. This time he cheated a person named D. Srinivas Rao, who had an account in Dilsukhnagar SBI branch.
We arrested him before he could loot more money,”said the ACP. Following a complaint from K. Pratap Reddy, Chief Manager of SBI-Dilsukhnagar branch.
