Student falls off second floor
Investigations revealed that boy tried to commit suicide due to non payment of fees
Chennai: A first year engineering student allegedly slipped to death from the second floor of his college building in Kancheepuram district on Tuesday. However, police suspect the boy to have committed suicide, as he had not paid the fee for the second semester. The boy, R. Rajasekar, a native of Vriddhachalam is a first year EEE student at a private engineering college near Thimmasamudram in Kancheepuram district.
His father C. Rajendran (48) is a farmer and was on his way to college on Monday after the boy called him, police said. Initial investigations revealed that the boy had not paid the fees well past the due date and suspect the boy to have committed suicide because of it. The incident happened around 11.50 am after which security staff and students rushed the boy to a private hospital nearby where he was declared brought dead.
Meanwhile, the boy’s father who reached the college in the evening was informed of the incident. Police officers quoted the college authorities as saying that the boy slipped from the parapet wall which led to his death. However, Kancheepiram taluk police have registered a case of suspicious death and are investigating further.
