Kid’s rape: Saqafi in another row
KOZHIKODE: The human rights of the LKG student of Darul Huda English Medium School in Parakadavu, who was raped, were violated by Perode Abdul Rahman Saqafi, management representative of the school, according to the State Human Rights Commission.
The finding comes amid reports that Saqafi, against whom the police had registered case, is absconding.
It may be recalled that Saqafi had made derogatory comments against the child victim. SHRC chief investigation officer DIG S. Sreejith told Deccan Chronicle that Saqafi’s utterances against the victim were “no doubt a human rights violation.”
“The human rights violation would be there in my report. However, my brief was to check the credentials of the destitute home run by the Darul Huda English medium school. I have taken the statements of the management representatives and also visited the destitute home.
We are now scrutinizing the papers to see whether the inmates are legitimate or not,” he said. He visited Nadapuram on Tuesday and took the statements of the victim, her mother, school management representatives and teachers. He visited the school and also the destitute home, where the arrested accused were residents.
Sreejith said the destitute home had a licence but he needed to verify the legality of the inmates housed there. “We are going through every paper and statement.
If there are any more rights violations we will report them,” he added. Nadapuram police said on Tuesday said that Abdul Rahman Saqafi, against whom the police have registered a case under various sections of JJ Act and IPC, has been absconding. Saqafi has called off his religious discourse which was scheduled to be held between December 5 and 12 at Nadapuram.
Police had arrested two religious students who were residents of the destitute home in the case. The key accused, Mubasheer, is the son of a Muslim religious leader based in Kuttiyadi.
