Shah Rukh Khan says 'no' to a biopic on himself
Mumbai: Biopics seem to be the latest trend among Bollywood filmmakers. With numerous books, documentaries and even a TV show on the life of living legend Shah Rukh Khan, it would be great to see a biopic on the Baadshah of Bollywood.
However in a recent interview with DNA, the ‘Happy New Year’ star feels his life is too unimportant to be made into a biopic.
He said, “I am for biopics. I would love to do one if I suit the role. But if you are asking me if I want someone to make a biopic on me, I’d say no! I will be very honest. It is very awkward to think of myself as so important that I should play me on screen! As a matter of fact, my personal life is so unimportant that I would never allow a Shah Rukh Khan to star in it. I would rather say to myself, ‘Tum bohut baade star ho, Itne chhote aadmi ke life ke baare mein hum tumko nahi le sakta’(Laughs) I would never get cast to play my own life because I don’t think my life is so important or interesting.”
SRK feels there are numerous other personalities in the industry who deserve a biopic to immortalise their immense contributions in their field, on screen.
“You have Amitji, Kishore Kumarji, Lataji, Mohd Rafi saab, Guru Dutt, Raj Kapoorsaab, Dilip Kumar saab, Yash — there are so many people that you can write about, stories which are more interesting and more pertinent to the film industry than mine. I am too small a person to have a film made about my life,” he added.
