Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, additional commissioner, M. Janaki said that all orders to procure plastic drums to be used as tree guards around the saplings planted on November 17, as part of the Haritha Visakha campaign, have been cancelled.
Usage of plastic drums had attracted criticism from various sections of the society. It may be recalled that Deccan Chronicle had published a report on the same issue on November 22.
Ms Janaki said that the 12,000 plastic drums which have already been procured would stay in use.
