New PWD secretary faces uphill task
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mr A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, managing director of Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala, has taken over as PWD secretary in place of Mr T. O. Sooraj, who has been suspended. Mr Hanish told DC that his new responsibility would be tough.
The government order giving Mr Hanish additional charge as PWD secretary was issued by the General Administration Department on Monday.
Mr Hanish, a 1996 batch IAS official, said he would discharge his duties to the best of his abilities. He added that all the ongoing projects and schemes of the PWD would be taken up in full swing.
“I will ensure transparency in all transactions of the department. Also, accountability of the officials who are entrusted with various tasks would be ensured,” he said.
Apart from holding the post of MD of RBDCKL, Mr Hanish also holds additional responsibilities as secretary of Local Self-Government Department – Urban Affairs as well as nodal officer of football development projects in Kerala, including the 2017 FIFA Under-17 World Cup. One of the matches may be held in Kochi.
