Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority to complete project by 2015
Hyderabad: The Buddha Purnima Project of the HMDA has so far used Rs 245 crore of the total loan amount for construction and renovation of sewerage facilities, while the remaining Rs 125 crore is being used for additional ‘interception and diversion’ structures on the Necklace Road.
The HMDA had taken up the Hussainsagar Lake and Catchment Area Improv-ement project with Official Development Assistance loan of Rs 370 crore from Japan International Cooperation Agency and another Rs 60 crore from the state share in the year 2006-07. The lake project, as per JICA loan disbursement, has to be completed by July 2016. However, most work will be completed by March 2015, officials said.
The projects around the Hussainsagar taken up with JICA funds for Rs 245 crore are:
1. Three STPs (Sewage Treatment Plant) of 30 MLD at Picket nala, 20 MLD at Balkapur nala and five MLD at Rangadhamini lake, constructed only to treat water with permissible limits of nutrients.
2. I&D structures at Fatehnagar, Prakashnagar and Necklace Road on Kukatpally, Picket and Balkapur nalas.
3. 1,600-mm diametre ring main (connecting structure) from Kukatpally nala to Buddha Bhavan.
4. 1,400-mm diametre ring main at Balanagar trunk main in Kukatpally catchment area.
5. Trunk sewer under execution by the Water Board in four packages. This project is to be completed by March 2015.
The BPP has dredged 4,32,000 CUM of sediment at the mouths of three major nalas of Hussainsagar.
