Investigation officers recovered bullets from P Obulesu

Court has granted his custody to the police for five days to continue the interrogation

Hyderabad: The investigation officers in the KBR Park shooting case have recovered bullets of some other firearms from P. Obulesu’s residence in Narsingi. These bullets are not of the gun used by Obulesu when he tried to kidnap Aurobindo Pharma’s Nityananda Reddy.

During interrogation, Obulesu, a former Greyhounds official who tried to kidnap city businessman and shot at him, confessed that he had plans to commit more extortions to accumulate money for a lavish lifestyle.

Meanwhile, the Nampally court has granted his custody to the police for five days to continue the interrogation. Obulesu was lodged in Chanchalguda jail as a remand prisoner after his arrest on Thursday night.

According to the investigation officials, they have recovered 22 live bullets and six used bullets after raiding Obulesu rented house in Narsingi. Among them, nine bullets are of other weapons. Police officials said that the six used bullets are of the AK 47, but they do not know where he used those bullets in the past.

Investigation officials will extract this information from him during the interrogation. “The court has granted five-day custody of Obulesu from Monday. We will look into all these missing links and find the answers during his interrogation,” said a senior official from West Zone. He added that the police will find out which are the other weapons he had and if he has currently concealed any such weapon.

Police had said that Obulesu had not opened fire in the first extortion case, in which he took lakhs from a senior bureaucrat’s son after abducting him near the KBR Park. The officials say that either Obulesu had used the bullets during some offence, or he had collected them while he was with the Greyhounds.

Obulesu did not have many friends in the police department, managed to conceal weapons and bullets during his service in Greyhounds, CPL, and Excise department.

On Nov.19 morning, Obulesu, opened fire at wholetime director and vice-chairman of Aurobindo Pharma K. Nityananda Reddy in a bid to kidnap him at KBR Park. The victim was getting into his Audi after his morning walk in the park. He and his brother managed to resist the kidnap attempt. Though Obulesu repeatedly fired at Mr Reddy with an AK 47, the victim escaped unhurt.
