Ahmedabad: Kanti Amrutya, a BJP MLA from Morbi of Gujarat’s Saurashtra region was caught on camera mercilessly beating up a youth for being drunk.
After an alleged altercation with the MLA’s security personnel, Mr Amrutya and his security men beat up the youth.
The politician was touring the area when the incident occurred.
A passer-by captured the entire incident. The video shows Mr Amrutya’s security men dragging the youth and the MLA thrashing him with a stick.
Policemen at the scene of the incident did not take any action against the MLA, nor did they try and stop him.
The police has slapped a prohibition case on the youth, but no legal action was initiated against the MLA.
In 2004, Mr Amrutya was convicted for a murder charge by a lower court, but was acquitted by the high court in 2007.
