You will be President of India one day, astrologer tells Education minister Smriti Irani
Jaipur: Education Minister Smriti Irani, who was in Rajasthan for a personal trip, visited one of India's best-known astrologers on Sunday.
Along with her husband Zubin Irani, she travelled to Karoi village in Bhilwara district to meet 80-year-old Pandit Nathulal Vyas.
Irani’s visit was to express gratitude to the astrologer who had told the BJP leader last year that she would become a minister, even if she loses the Lok Sabha elections 2014.
During the four-hour-long meeting, Irani asked questions on how things would turn out for her in future.
The astrologer told the 38-year-old minister that she is due for a huge promotion.
"She will become President... in five years," the astrologer told reporters.
Irani’s visit to the astrologer generated controversy, with opposition leaders criticizing the minister for believing in astrology although she is the country's education minister.
Defending her visit, Irani said, “What I am doing in my personal life is not the responsibility of media to report until and unless it affects my duties.”
