New Delhi: India on Sunday said discussions on issues with Pakistan can only take place under the framework for bilateral dialogue, and any deviation will serve no purpose, even as the government appeared not to completely rule out a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif at the Saarc summit at Kathmandu.
India on Sunday said discussions on various issues with Pakistan can only take place under the framework for bilateral dialogue agreed with Islamabad, and any deviation will serve no purpose, even as the government appeared not to completely rule out a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif in Kathmandu at the forthcoming Saarc summit there.
Speculation is rife the two leaders could have an impromptu bilateral meeting at the Saarc “retreat” on November 27. The MEA, meanwhile, confirmed that Mr Modi will only travel to Kathmandu when he leaves Tuesday to attend the summit in Nepal, and will not visit Janakpur and Lumbini.
