Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has asked the Centre for Rs 1,00,213 crore to build the new capital city along with essential infrastructure and amenities.
Other than the Centre, the Andhra Pradesh government has also sent the report to the Central Planning Commission and the 14th Finance Commission. The report stated that at least Rs 4 lakh crore would be required to create infrastructure for the new capital along with adequate linkages to other parts of the state.
“Our major concern now is to immediately develop our capital city so that we can achieve a smooth transfer of the administrative and legislative functions from Hyderabad to the new location as expeditiously as possible,” the report said.
It stated that in the last 60 years, the emphasis had been on the development of Hyderabad and its surrounding areas at the expense of all potential areas for development in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema.
