Hyderabad: On Monday, people were taken aback by the news of actress Jeevitha being jailed for two years in a cheque bounce case. However, when contacted, she clarified that they were all rumours and she was still waiting outside the court.
“The final verdict has not been given yet,” she said. The case, which has been going on for a few years now, is related to 2007 film Evadaithe Nakenti, which had run into financial trouble. Jeevitha had then taken over the project along with a family friend, Sama Chandrasekhar Reddy.
“Chandrasekhar gave two to three cheques and I gave a few cheques. I trusted this person (Chandrasekhar) so much at that time, but he kept those cheques and went to court complaining that I had taken money from him.
They were all fake cheques and I refused to give money. He later sought Rs 10 lakh to withdraw the case or threatened to go to the media,” added Jeevitha. “The court asked us to deposit the disputed amount and then fight for it. And I am ready to fight,” said the actress.
