Former BCCI official spilled Sundar Raman’s beans to Mudgal panel?

Mumbai: It is learnt that the complaint to the Supreme Court-appointed Mukul Mudgal panel about Sundar Raman – Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Indian Premier League (IPL) – making 350 phone calls to bookies in one IPL season was made by a former BCCI official.

The identity of the complainant could not be revealed.

However, during an investigation by BB Mishra, the key member of the Mudgal committee, only eight call-conversations between Raman and bookies came into light.

Interestingly, in the recent Emergent Meeting of the BCCI, the members have decided to back Raman.

But if Raman denies the charges (having conversations with bookies etc.) before the Supreme Court on Monday, it is bound to be challenged by the Mudgal committee.

Raman's conversations have not been tape-recorded but Mumbai police is likely to have the mobile phone records. Of course, these records merely don't prove his involvement in betting and fixing the matches.

The ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) had no records of Raman's call-details.
