Hyderabad: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would undertake a week-long visit to Japan from today, aiming to enhance cooperation and attract investments into Andhra Pradesh. "Six MoUs in different areas, including agriculture, power and urban development, would be signed with Japan government and different organisations during the visit," Parakala Prabhakar, Advisor (Communications) to the state government, told reporters here on Sunday.
Naidu, leading an 18-member delegation, will have meetings with high-powered CEOs of Japanese companies during the visit, he said. Seeking to woo the top companies towards investing in Andhra Pradesh, the state government has prepared brochures and a short-film in Japanese language. In addition, Naidu's speeches would be translated into Japanese language to reach out to the audience during the visit, Prabhakar said.
The delegation would visit Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo and other cities and return to Hyderabad on November 30. On being asked why Japan has been chosen for the visit, he said the state government would like to benefit from the substantial commitments made to India during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Japan and also as the island nation is advanced in the areas of electronics and information technology.
"Japan is now already involved in the Bangalore-Chennai industrial corridor. Recently, the Prime Minister visited Japan. There was a commitment of about USD 30 billion to India. We want to leverage as much as possible from that.
"Secondly, we have been focusing on information technology and electronics from the beginning. There is a lot of difference in the information technology that existed earlier and the information technology since 2012. Advanced research is taking place in Japan in this. Here, we are talking about energy, information technology and electronics manufacturing as well," he said.
