Will fulfil Vajpayee’s dream about Kashmir: PM Narendra Modi
Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that he has a deep affection for Kashmir and pledged to address the issue within the framework of “democracy, humanity and Kashmiriyat” as was envisaged by BJP leader and former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
“I have a vision for Jammu and Kashmir and that vision is based on Atal Behari Vajpayee’s vision of insaaniyat, jumhooriyat and Kashmiriyat,” he said.
Mr Modi, who was in Kishtwar, to address an election rally, said “humanity, democracy, and Kashmiriyat” are the words of Mr Vajpayee that have a special place in the hearts of the people of Kashmir and have ignited hope in every Kashmiri youth about a better future.
Mr Modi did not mention the political nature of the Kashmir issue as such, or the demand that it should be addressed as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of the state. He said, “I want to urge the people to install with full majority a BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir and trust my words that the dream, which Atalji had seen for J&K, Modi will use all his might and will fulfil that dream.”
He warned against attempts to link religion to politics, saying "a Kashmiri is a Kashmiri" and that his government was committed to developing the state.”
