No one can silence me, says Mamata Banerjee
Even Sonia Gandhi is not opening her mouth out of fear
KOLKATA: Challenging the Centre, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “I challenge them to impose President’s Rule. The people will reply through ballots. We will organise protests against selective vendetta against us. They want to silence the voices of the regional parties.
Even Sonia Gandhi is not opening her mouth out of fear. They have put Jayalalithaa behind bars so even she cannot speak up. But I do not fear anyone and they cannot stop me from opening my mouth. They are engaging in conspiracies because they are afraid of me.”
Ms Banerjee also came down heavily on some BJP leaders for calling her party workers “thieves”. “Some BJP leaders from New Delhi come here and call everyone thieves. As if we are all thieves and they are all saints. It hurts when someone refers to you as a thief when you have not done anything to be called one,” Ms Banerjee said.
Referring to the arrest of Mr Bose, she said, “They have thought let’s arrest some of her MPs and as a result people will not give us votes (sic). This will not happen. What has Tumpai (Srinjoy Bose) done? He took advertisements of Saradha.
Just because he took advertisements, does it mean he is guilty? Just because he is our party MP? There are others who also have taken advertisements of Saradha. Then why was such action not taken against them?”
The Trinamul chief also made it clear that she will not support anyone who was indeed involved in the Saradha scam.
“If Shuvaprasanna has done anything wrong, action will be taken against him. I have no problem,” she said. She alleged that the BJP has bought the media ahead of the polls and a section of them were working to protect the party’s interest.
