Technology makes life simple for this couple

Sub-collector S. Suhas, wife Dr. Vaishnavi on honeymoon plans

KOCHI: The very special thing about this couple is that they are now into the best part of marriage, the honeymoon.

Fort Kochi Sub Collector S. Suhas and his doctor wife Vaishnavi Gowda who got married on October 5 this year at Palace Grounds in Bangalore, have busy professional lives.

Vaishnavi has just started her career as a doctor at KIMS Bengaluru and was unable to spend too many days in God's Own Country since the marriage.

Technology keeps them connected, cellphone ‘makes life simple,’ according to Suhas.

“When we first met I used to speak a lot and she used to listen, now the roles have reversed she speaks a lot and I listen,” says Suhas.

Both of them hail from the garden city.
Vaishnavi is set to move to Kochi to be with her husband and is planning PG in dermatology. “It is a discipline which is very light, more like a day job.

We can take care of each other and we can balance personal and professional life,” says Vaishnavi beaming at her husband sitting nearby.

Both Suhas and his wife agree that time management has become a serious issue after marriage, balancing official and personal life.

“But it makes a lot of difference when I am able to understand that there is someone around who cares about me,” says Suhas who took charge as Fort Kochi sub-collector almost three months ago and has initiated a slew of projects since then.

Interestingly, the couple are yet to get away for their honeymoon and are planning to go to Europe sometime soon.

“The most exotic destination for us is Paris,” says Vaishnavi with Suhas quickly adding “Since it's winter in Paris now, we have deferred it to some other occasion.”

Kerala too is on their radar with Kumarakom houseboat ride and Munnar being the preferred destination on their itinerary. So did the bureaucrat fall in love and get engaged during the Mussoorie training period phase of IAS officers?

No, says Suhas. "I was committed to her before that, so I stayed away from all that," says Suhas adding theirs was not a love affair but both families knew each other and the proposal came through that channel.

Suhas is a product of PESIT Bengaluru and graduated in Electronic Engineering. Having scored good marks in GRE, he had the opportunity to do MS in Maryland University and University of California.

He also received campus placement from Accenture. But he opted for Civil Service which he passed in 2012 in the first attempt and his first posting was in Ernakulam as Assistant Collector.

His father C. K. Shivanna is in the Indian Forest Service and is serving as the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests in Karnataka.

Vaishnavi's father, Rama Gowda, is also an IAS officer who is the Transport Commissioner in Karnataka and she is "the lone pampered child who is being pampered by her husband now," says Suhas which throws his better half into a guffaw.

The couple has not been able to host a marriage reception in Kochi due to each other's busy schedule and are planning one soon.
