Next round is ours: CM Siddaramaiah camp to Dr G Parameshwar

Firstly, the CM’s camp wants to use the same tactics which Dr Parameshwar employed to get the posts of heads of boards and corporation for party workers. Second, they are planning to induct a large number of their supporters as directors and members of boards and corporations. Third, MLAs and defeated candidates would be prompted to turn against the KPCC president so that he would be forced lie low for a while.

The CM’s camp has drawn up an elaborate plan to appoint members and directors of boards and corporations in such a way that there would be no formal announcements about their appointment.

It would be an arduous task for anyone to cull out information on who was appointed when. In an effort to achieve this, the CM’s camp has geared up to issue appointment letters to leaders who belong to the same camp through respective departments itself, a departure from process adopted by previous Congress governments, and one followed by leaders of the Janata Parivar.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a senior leader said: “Dr. Parameshwar may have succeeded in sensing popular sentiments among leaders in Delhi and turned against us. But, it will not be too late to turn the same table on him. We will certainly unleash a campaign against him in order to deny him the cabinet berth by stating that defeated leaders should not be accommodated in the cabinet.

“Our subtle campaign against Dr Parameshwar will help us to turn MLAs and defeated candidates against him,” the leader added.

The leader said it was a well-known fact that Mr Siddaramaiah championed the cause of MLAs and defeated candidates with central leaders, and therefore a large section of them would stand by the Chief Minister.

In such a scenario, party leaders would not be able to pressurise Mr Siddaramaiah to influence the cabinet expansion exercise. “The central leaders have given complete freedom to the Chief Minister and Dr Parameshwar a free hand to pick and fill up other posts in boards and corporations.

Each board and corporation could accommodate at least a dozen as directors and members. Therefore, Mr Siddaramaiah may or may not consult Dr Parameshwar while filling up these vacancies and is planning to issue appointment letters to his supporters through the departments concerned.

“Even if he consults, it will just be an eye wash to send out a message to central leaders about his magnanimity, but in reality, he will go ahead with his plans to cut Dr Parameshwar to size,” the leader added.
