Lucknow: As Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam singh yadav celebrated his 75th birthday by cutting a 75-foot-long cake on Friday midnight at a grand event here, party MLA Abhay Singh was caught on camera beating up employees of a toll plaza in Barabanki district on Saturday.
The incident took place when the employees at the Ahmadpur toll plaza stopped the SUV of the MLA from entering the wrong lane.
This apparently angered Mr Singh’s men who first got into a heated argument with the toll plaza staff and then physically assaulted them. They were soon joined by more men who arrived in three SUVs and all of them beat up the employees mercilessly.
In the CCTV footage made available to news channels, one of the legislator’s men is seen grabbing a toll employee by his shirt while the other is seen thrashing him with a stick. The staff was assaulted in full public view as other vehicles passed through. Abhay Singh, known for his criminal antecedents, was sitting in one of the cars at the time of the incident.
One dead in stampede on Mulayam birthday
Samajwadi party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s 75th birthday on Saturday ended on an unfortunate note when a woman died during a stampede that broke out in Badaun district where blankets were being distributed as part of the celebrations. Several persons were injured but the exact number was not known. Party MP Dharmendra Yadav was distributing the blankets in Badaun when the crowds got restive and began rushing towards the dais to get blankets and this led to a major stampede.
