KSRTC to pick graduate drivers for promotions
Kochi: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched an exercise to identify degree and post graduate holders among its staff as part of a new promotional scheme.
“The effort is to identify staff with higher educational qualifications. A new scheme has been finalized under which 25 per cent of vacancies to key posts will be filled following the current criteria (weightage to experience) while 15 per cent will be open to internal candidates possessing high educational qualifications.
This is part of the efforts to make the corporation professional,” a senior KSRTC official said.
For the remaining 60 per cent posts there will be direct recruitment where outside candidates with qualifications like MBA will be considered, he said.
The first of such postings will be made to the Law Section. An order to this effect was passed on October 10 and a circular asking the depot heads to identify the candidates was issued on November 5.
“It has been decided to collect the names of those permanent employees who possess degrees or post-graduate certificates in Law.
All unit officers are hereby directed to collect the details and submit them to the law Section of the Chief Office at the earliest.
It has been noticed that many law graduates have not mentioned their full qualifications. Efforts will be made to find such employees too,” reads the circular.
Currently almost all posts are being filled on the ‘First come first served’ basis which has resulted in low-qualified personnel being entrusted with critical decision-making tasks.
