Buyers ready to pay more for ‘wellness homes’: All-India Wellness Consumer
Chennai: Those luxury and premium residences, with spas, gyms, open spaces etc may not be offering you the ultimate wellness after all.
Wellness inside apartments in terms of clean air, water and freedom from radiation is still a nascent concept in the country. And if given a chance, about 88 per cent of consumers are willing to pay more for such ‘wellness-infused residences’.
“Currently, most luxury projects have all the amenities as a part of the complex in the outer part, taking care of 80 per cent of healthy options. But there are a number of factors inside the apartment that can make a difference in the quality of life,” said Mr Amit Nanda, marketing manager of Tata Housing.
Concepts, such as fitting air filters inside homes, or installing a vitamin-infused water supply system or employing electro magnetic radiation-proof electrical circuitry, are already popular globally.
A substantial section of the Indian populace is unaware of the existence of features aiding personal, social, emotional and career well being in the luxury residential context, revealed an all-India Wellness Consumer survey conducted by Tata Housing.
When queried on these aspects, 88 per cent of consumers were ready to pay a premium for wellness-featured residences, it said. The ‘sensation and feeling of wellness’ was a priority for buyers, with 69 per cent respondents rating cleaner air and water, and an overall healthy atmosphere as ‘very important’.
“While these features are rarely or often not provided in residential projects, survey finds a latent demand for these features especially with consumers’ willing to pay for a superior lifestyle,” said Mr Brotin Banerjee, MD, Tata Housing.
In fact, 63 per cent of consumers are not aware of harmful electromagnetic fields in residences due to electrical circuitry whereas 37 per cent aware consumers are helpless, are waiting for solution. “We at Tata Housing are committed to initiate a trend that fulfills aspirations for a better and healthier existence,” he said.
