Jennifer Lawrence sings in 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay'
The song is an anthem of solidarity for the rebelling Districts of Panemin the movie
Not known for her vocal-abilities, Jennifer Lawrence has managed to pull-off a terrific performance singing in the newly released 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1', which is the third in 'The Hunger Games' franchise, with one more to come.
She sang in the first installment of the series, The Hunger Game's, directed by Gary Ross, singing "Rue's Lullaby" when her friend Rue, the District 11 tribute, was eliminated from the game.
The song from the film that Lawrence is singing is called “The Hanging Tree,” and it was composed by James Newton and the Lumineers. In the book, Katniss had learned the song from her father and it becomes an anthem for the revolution in their uprising against the Capital. That melody, with the simple lyrics, and Jennifer Lawrence's just raspy enough voice, and her understated emotion, combine rather well.
