Power cuts lifted for all
Hyderabad: After months of power cuts the Telangana electricity department has completely ended power cuts for all consumer categories from Friday.
While the industrial sector which was facing a one day power holiday saw relief from Thursday onwards, authorities lifted power cuts for all categories of consumers across Telangana from Friday onwards due to a huge fall in demand.
“The demand has come down to 120 mu, a drop of nearly 50 mu. Last month the demand was hovering around 170 mu. We have completely lifted power cuts for all categories and even the cut to the industrial sector has been lifted,” said TSGenco and TStransco CMD, D. Prabhakar Rao.
As the kharif season has ended, the cuts in mandals and district headquarter towns ranging from two to four hours have been lifted completely as the state is able to meet the 120 mu demand.
Meanwhile, all the scheduled power supply cuts in Hyderabad city was ended three weeks back.
Meanwhile Electricity thief jailed for second meter fraud
Electricity sleuths have put another power thief in jail for tampering with the meter for a second time.
The accused Ayub Khan from Anandnagar was sent to jail for the non-compoundable offense. This is the third case of a second time power thief being nabbed in the last two months.
Ayub Khan was nabbed by the Vigilance and APTS teams II of Central Circle Hyderabad. Earlier, Ayub Khan was found involved in power theft and had paid compounding fee.
However, within months, he was found tampering with the meter and was booked by DPE Shoban Babu. He was arrested and and was sent to judicial remand said P. Nagabhushanam, inspector, vigilance team -II, TSSPDCL.
