PM in Jharkhand, Congress chief in J&K slam each other

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday clashed head on as they started their election campaigns in Jhakhand and Jammu and Kashmir respectively. Both trained their guns at each other’s parties.
Mr Modi, speaking in Jharkhand, exhorted voters to “end dynasty rule” and “vote for a change,” while Mrs Gandhi, speaking in the Valley, hit out at the BJP for “selling dreams” and “playing politics over providing relief to flood victims of J&K.”
Apparently hinting at the BJP holding parleys with the Kashmiri separatists, the Mrs Gandhi also attacked the ruling party, saying some forces did not have any programmes and policies, and could shake hands with “anyone for power.”
Mr Modi, who will address his first poll rally in J&K on Saturday, had met separatist-turned-politician Sajjad Lone on November 10.
Kicking off the BJP’s campaign in Jharkh-and, Mr Modi attacked the state government over lack of development and asked the people to free the state from dynastic rule to end corruption. He said development was the only way to ensure Jharkh-and’s growth, and urged people to give him a “chance to serve them.”
In an apparent reference to JMM supremo Shibu Soren and his CM son Hemant Soren, the PM said, “If you want Jharkhand to move on the path of development, then free Jharkhand from pariwarwad (dynastic rule)... If you want the state to progress and want employment for youth, put an end to dynastic politics.”
“Before me, many PMs came here and made tall claims. But I am a Prime Minister who is not into big talk. I talk on small things like constructing toilets for mothers and sisters and separate toilets for girls in schools, a reason for their school dropout,” Mr Modi added.
