AP capital: Farmers unhappy with package offered for pooling land
Guntur: The farmers are extremely unhappy over the proposed compensation of Rs 25,000 per annum by the state government to each farmer for giving land to the new capital under land pooling.
They are questioning how a person can run a family of four with Rs 68 per day and are demanding fair compensation.
Farmers of land pooling villages recently met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and appealed to the increase of yearly compensation but in vain as Mr Naidu did not give any assurance to the farmers.
There are 32,977 acres of farm land available in the villages of Tulluru Mandal and according to market reports; nearly farmers have sold 3500 acres of land till now unable to accept the government compensation and making good use of the demand in the present market.
A farmer M Gopala Rao said that his son is studying intermediate and daughter is studying class X and he is paying their fees and other expenses due to the guaranteed income of vegetable crops.
He said that the expenses of education and family expenses would increase year-by-year hence the Rs 25,000 compensation is very meager and severely unfair.
Mr Gopala Rao demanded increase of compensation to Rs 1 lakh per annum and further 15 percent increase every year for the next ten years.
Another farmer, D Bullaiah said that one has to pay at least Rs 70 to Rs 100 for a single meal in the hotel and questioned, then how could they survive with Rs 68 per day of compensation.
