Hyderabad: Four government departments will start functioning from the capital area near Vijayawada from June 1 or July, 2015. The senior IAS officers committee constituted on shifting the heads of departments to Vijayawada, has completed its preliminary work.
The committee will suggest shifting four HoDs in the next academic year. Convenor of the committee and Andhra Pradesh municipal administration principal secretary, D. Samba Siva Rao, is preparing the preliminary report for submission to the government.
The HoDs of education, agriculture, and rural development and welfare will start functioning from Vijayawada from 2015.
The agriculture department includes all its allied departments like animal husbandry, cooperatives and others. The welfare department includes social welfare, tribal welfare, Backward Class welfare and others.
The committee has decided to recommend the HoDs suggestions like continuation of housing rent allowance, residential quarters in Hyderabad among others.
The committee is of the opinion that shifting HoDs before the next academic year and the final allotment of state cadre officers between both states by the C.R. Kamalanathan Committee is not possible.
The committee feels if the government shifts some HoDs to Vijayawada now, during the final allotment, some of the officers may be allotted to Telangana State. Moreover, if HoDs are shifted to Vijayawada in the middle of the year, the education of children of the employees will be affected.
