Cyberabad cops failed to track gun
Hyderabad: Cyberabad’s Narsingi police seems to have failed to identify their own department’s weapon, the AK-47 which went missing in December 2013, and was kept in their own area by Obulesh, an Excise constable and former Greyhounds cop.
On Wednesday when the AK-47 was found at the KBR Park along with magazine it was identified as the same weapon which went missing from the Bell of Arms of the Greyhounds. A complaint was lodged by Greyhound officials at the Narsingi police station after a few days.
The same police station is investigating the case of the missing 9 mm pistol of an ASI who use to work in the same police station and was suspended in this regard three years ago. The weapon has not been found till date.
What is more surprising is that the then Greyhounds commando Obulesh, who stole the AK-47 had hidden the rifle at Kurnool for a while and got it back along with him to his residence at Narsingi, the same area where the weapon was reported missing.
He easily took the weapon in a bag and travelled in an autorickshaw to the scene of offence. Narsingi police could not track him while he was taking the weapon to the same area, or while he was taking it to the KBR Park from Narsingi.
And it was not just once. Obulesu committed kidnap attempts twice with the same weapon. According to sources the same police station is investigating the case of the missing 9 mm pistol of an ASI who use to work in the same police station and was suspended in this regard three years ago. The weapon has not been found till date.
