Several multinational companies have more job offers for IITians this year
Chennai: There is good news for final year students of IIT-Madras. Several multinational companies have more job offers for IITians this year. A total of 235 companies have offered 310 jobs so far. A total of 1,391 students (B.Tech, B.Tech-dual, M.Tech, M.S. and Ph.D) are sitting for placement this year compared to 1,435 last year. IIT-M’s placement office had sent invites to about 1,000 companies of which 762 envisaged interest and 235 have confirmed their participation so far. Last year in the same period of the 372 companies, which expressed willingness 228 accepted with 269 job profiles.
Prof. Babu Viswanathan, placement advisor at IIT-M says that last year few companies offered one job but this year the same company is offering more than two jobs.“We have a wide variety of companies, including analytics, consulting, finance, IT, research & development, start-ups and government, that will recruit students in our campus from December 1, the day placement starts at all seven older IITs,” he said.
Pointing out that last year a student was offered a maximum salary $ 2.2 lakh (approximately Rs. 1.36 crore) per annum by a multinational company and '40 lakh per year was the salary package in the domestic front, Prof. Viswanathan said that this year too, the same pay packet would continue. This year 73 companies, including Auctus Advisor, Affine Analytics, Tiger Analytics have joined the recruiters list.
