Congress protests naming of Hyderabad domestic terminal after NTR
Hyderabad: Congress staged a protest at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Friday against Centre's decision to name the domestic terminal after TDP founder and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, the late N T Rama Rao.
The protest was held by Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao and other party activists, who were removed from the spot later by the police.
"N T Rama Rao's name was not there earlier. It was only named for Rajiv Gandhi. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju are using their influence. They (TDP) say NTR upheld Telugu pride. We are not questioning all that. But it was they who back-stabbed NTR," V Hanumantha Rao said.
The Rajya Sabha member alleged that Naidu wanted to take credit for promoting NTR's name.
The Civil Aviation Ministry had yesterday issued an order naming the domestic terminal after N T Rama Rao.
