Three held for attack on Manipuri man in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: In a swift action, the north east division police have arrested three men in connection with an attack on a 22-year-old Manipuri student in Kothanur on Wednesday night. The accused have been identified as Joy Sachin (23), Jagadish (20) and Vijay (19), all employees of a furniture house. At the time of incident they were drunk and creating ruckus on Chikkabyarathi road.
The Manipuri student, Samuel, who was passing by objected to their unruly behaviour and this angered the trio. Soon heated arguments ensued between them, following which they overpowered and thrashed Samuel. Passers-by rushed to his rescue and thrashed the trio.
However the three attackers managed to escape, while Samuel was being shifted to a nearby hospital. Based on the complaint, the Kothanur police rushed to the spot and arrested two accused on Wednesday night, while the third was arrested on Thursday morning. At around 5 pm on Thursday, the three were brought to the Avhieta Hospital, where Samuel is recuperating, for identification.
Vikas Kumar Vikas, DCP (North East) said the attackers initially started ‘teasing’ Samuel, to which he retorted, which is when a physical fight began. “I do not know how they teased him, using what words. Samuel, however, has reacted which was when they attacked him physically. They should not have assaulted him and the public too have beaten up the three youngsters. We too are taking strict action against the three men,” the DCP said.
