Unidentified man fires at Aurobindo Pharma MD with AK-47 at KBR Park
Hyderabad: An unidentified man armed with an AK-47 rifle allegedly tried to abduct a city businessman outside KBR Park on Wednesday morning at around 7.15. He also opened fire following a scuffle with the victim and his brother.
Mr K. Nityananda Reddy, whole-time director and vice-chairman of Aurobindo Pharma, however, escaped unhurt as he and his brother resisted the attempt. The police recovered the weapon as the attacker fled after leaving it and his bag behind at the crime scene.
The attacker, who approached Mr Reddy pretending to be the personal gunman of a VIP, bit Mr Reddy’s brother Prasad Reddy’s hand in a bid to escape from his clutches, police officials said.
The incident took place as Mr Reddy was entering his Audi car after finishing his morning walk. Police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy said that the attacker fired eight rounds. Three bullets hit the car’s windshield, two hit the car’s seat and three hit the road.
Police officials recovered eight empty shells and a few bullets from the spot after the incident. “After walking in the park, I got into the car and was buckling up, when suddenly a man with an AK-47 barged into my car from the left and pointed the rifle at my chest saying he was kidnapping me. I told him I could give whatever money he wanted.
