Bengaluru: A 22-year-old student hailing from Northeast was assaulted by three persons while he questioned the trio while they were teasing a woman in Byrathi Cross road in Kothanur police station limits on Wednesday.
According to the police, the incident took place between 7.30 pm and 8 pm when Samuel, a B.A. student and a native of Manipur, was on his way to his rented room in Kothanur. He noticed three Telugu-speaking youths who were under the influence of alcohol and teasing a girl. When Samuel confronted them, it resulted in an altercation which turned violent.
The trio assaulted Samuel on his head, face and hands and fled the place while the woman walked away. The Manipuri student was taken to Avhieta Hospital in Kothanur and was discharged after first-aid was offered to him.
Samuel has registered a complaint at Kothanur police station against the three youths and the cops have booked the accused for wrongful restraint and causing grievous hurt.
