TV documentary on Freddy Hunt & Mathias Lauda
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: M & N Racing Club owner and racing enthusiast Jose Pottamkulam Ootta is back in the capital city after his team member and Austrian second generation racing giant Mathias Lauda won the MRF challenge in the Bahrain International Circuit during the weekend.
Ootta has also kicked off a television documentary, ‘The Sons of Speed,’ on the racing duo Freddy Hunt and Mathias Lauda in Bahrain and earlier at the Losail International Circuit under the floodlights in Doha.
Jose had roped in the most sought-after racing duo during July for his M & N Racing Club for the MRF 2000 championship series in Qatar, Bahrain and in Chennai during October,
November and January respectively for a whopping ‘undisclosed’ amount. Mathias Lauda, 31, son of three-time Formula One world champion Niki Lauda, told DC that racing at the Bahrain International Circuit did not start off well for him and Freddy Hunt with both of them facing issues with their racing car.
“The Bahrain championship itself was great and we had a tough weekend. Out of the four races, it was nice to end the last race on a winning note.
MRF 2000 championship series is one of the most important championships of the season. Now I am looking forward to race at the Chennai leg of the series and it’s going to be my first trip to India,” Lauda told DC over phone from Austria.
The MRF Challenge heads to Chennai for the final round during January 24-25. Lauda crossed the finish line in the fourth race while his racing car played spoilsport in the earlier rounds.
However, Freddy Hunt came fifth in the Bahrain circuit as the other racing drivers were always trying to hit his car. Freddy Hunt, 26, is the son of Britisher James Hunt, the 1976 F1 World Champion who passed away in 1993 at the age of 45 due to heart attack.
Meanwhile, the next schedule of the documentary shoots on ‘The Sons of Speed’ by G33k Films will be held at ‘The Podium Lounge Abu Dhabi’ during November 20-23 to celebrate the F1 season finale where Freddy is expected to make a tribute to his late father.
